i think it is cool to have it at a level that suits your playing needs and not fuck up on stage. i'm no opposer to a guitarist jumping around on stage but as long as he plays the guitar properly first.

joe haley from psycroptic, for example, has it basically at his chest but plays every note correctly. i personally have it halfway between my stomach and chest. but if you can move around a bit, that's good shit.

I wear my guitar Chuck Shuldiner style, right on the stomach so you can stretch farther, keep your pick straighter, and keep your fingertips upright...

yeah,it's sort of like that,I also wear it on my stomach since that way you feel with more room and reach and I need it since I do a lot of climbing and 5/6 string sweeping up in the 17's and 22's.

This is an old ass post. But you know...always a topic that's important -- because everyone plays it different. Once again...Tom Morello height is good for me. The fact is (and I don't care what anyone says) a little higher gives a lot more ability to hit frets -- from 1 to 24+. If you can hit 25 frets with slinging at your waist then you have my respect. I can't do it. And by the way I don't give a shit if you say that when I play at my nips I look like a geek. Bottom line is, for 80% of you I can still shred better at the nips than you can at the waist or lower. It's a fact. Nice to see you all again.

i do most of my playing while sitting on my ass..but when i do bust out the strap..i usually have the guitar at a medium height. somewhere around the top e string near my belly button too. i agree it makes it easier to play the higher up the guitar is..but then again i guess theres always people with different preferences. i can't skate goofy footed for shit..not that i'm a pro or anything hah..but the other way around it feels so much better.

I like to wear mine around my stomach I find it the most comfortable, usualy with the neck slightly slanted up.

and I alternate my thumb position depending on what I'm playing, Chord heavy parts are usualy played with my thumb more towards the top of the neck. And faster parts with more alternate picking and sweeping and such are played with the thumb more towards the middle so I can get full use of all the strings.
