See why I love Jim? It's not just that he was the only other person using 'cunt' back when it was cool and not played out. It's because he realizes the best vantage point from which to get perspective on the world isn't with his head shoved up his true as fuck metal ass.
He just does that for fun.

My english teacher always talks about he's the best modern poet of the united states. He says he really likes his stuff. I find it funny because hes an old man.
I do not like rap at all. I can stand about 30 seconds before I tune it out.

did you join for this thread? I can stand some rap, but i dont like it, and as said by FBS, i know the underground stuff takes talent and thats why its underground, thats why technical/proficient music wont ever get popular, because its not easy to digest like the pill that is pop, that you get shoved down your throat every day. Technical music has never been popular, never will be, and thats the way it should stay, away from the ignorant fucks that plague this earth.

Well said Mr. Innards.
Rap = yawn. Some are good with the lyrics and all, but it bores the fuck out of me.
What about Tone Loc?

woo tone loc is cool. So what if he doesnt razzle dazzle with crazy multi's and mad metaphores in his lyrics, he is just funny and cool. But it is such a shame a bunch of metal heads talking about rap and 2pac and really knowin nothing about the genre and person in question.

Well, that was partly why I asked the question itself, and had intentionally done so on this site to gain a metalhead's educated perspective. Some replied in the manor I had hoped, and others.......well...predictable.
I pretty much have a good idea on the man now, or at least enough, so whomever mods here can close/delete this thread if they wish. Thanks for the replies. Especially Sodomaniac's.

its cool man, but i dont think id be taking surveys and eyeing us like this until you get your post count up a little more, or you put some time in, but since your new, and you havent fucked up, you can post more of these, and find out who are the open minded metal heads.

Every metalhead should be openminded. How the hell did you find this shit in the first place? By refusing to listen outside your (then)current box?

I have listened to some rap off n' on over the years. I've come across some I liked and most that I didn't. My first real exposure to rap was on the bus in high school around... 1988. It was 2 Live Crew and some kid was cranking up some shit on the bus about "There I was looking into her panties and there was some shit, wasn't pus, wasn't blood, I don't know what the fuck it was!" Basically made me wanna puke LOL.
But I've come across some rap that I have really liked. For me though (and this ain't racist but just because maybe I am like a tampon, white, uptight and out of sight) my favorites have been the beastie boys and currently in mainstream Eminem. I don't care what you all say I think the kid is quite talented.
Interestingly enough Tupac spent his summers at his Mom's place in Marin City, which was just down the road from where I lived. Basically the ghetto area of a really rich, upper-class WASP community just north of San Francisco. Can't really call it a ghetto though, it wasn't bad. Had a bunch of friends there and partied my ass off in Marin City. LOL.

I don't like rap, sure It may have some good poetry in (once you take away the ghetto slang), I don't like the beats, I dunno, it sounds too electronic to me.l

This is Chit Chat, MTM. Y'know, 'THE ONLY forum where you can talk about anything and everything'? But, even ignoring that, non-metal bands get mentioned all the time - in Bands, which is a part of the Metal subforum, no less - without the same 'Oh my god, this is a METAL site! Why are you talking about bands that don't play metal?' uproar. Don't be a dumbass. Or at least be a consistent dumbass. There shouldn't be a lot of rap threads, but a thread once in a while trying to figure out where metalheads stand on a non-metal genre should be all right to anyone able to halt the knee jerk reaction and think about it.

well said PST. I myself listen to a little rap that my metal core friend likes. Hes got these "gore" rappers ive hear, Brotha Lynch Hung, and Necro (feat. John Tardy), and Necro even writes about metal bands sometimes.

I wouldnt currently consider myself openminded towards music. I know I was a lot before I got into metal, I would listen to anything. Once I really got into metal, everything else just seemed boring. I know I cant stand the emo-punk-popcore music my sister listens to, though I could back when I wasn't a metalhead.
