I currently have a Peavey 5150 cab, i bought it new, but i dont like it that much, i like the marshall jcm900 1960 better, it's not that bad, it has just some cosmetics rips of the tolex, but nothing mayor. And also im currently upgrading my rig because i want to get a Mesa Triple Rectifier, and i just dont think the peavey cab will give me a good sound. So is a good deal right?

$250 for a 1960 cab is an awesome deal... four used g12t-75's without a cab will go for that much, but them being in the cab maeks it a pretty good deal.

rips just make em' look tuff. and it's going to happen after a fair share of moving around anyways.

i consider the recto more of a step sideways than an upgrade... don't let the price difference fool you into thinking it's automatically better...

overall, the recto has better cleans and more flexibility... but something about the overall tone and voicing of the 5150 and 5150 II just seems to have more mojo or something... but to each his own.

try them out side by side and dick with them for like a couple hours...

I've got a 1960 Lead that I fancy. I am running a Mesa Dual Rec. through it so I don't know how much it effects my opinion.

got a 1960A with a VS100R head. thats a sweet sounding amp with no effects. I play live death metal with only the amp itself. But Death also uses pretty much the same model head...... and so does deicide now that i think of it.

I have tried one Triple Recto xdislexicx, my other guitarrist has one, and i played around with my jackson kelly with EMG's, and the Triple Recto totally rips my 5150, the overall tone is better and yeah the cleans are way too better and more flexibility, such as three channels, and alot of other stuff.

Did you other guitarrist bought the recto??? xdislexicx, Or does he still have the 5150??
