well.. the Axis way a lot less than the iron cobras.. I believe they are made of aircraft aluminum (sp?), and the boards are way thinner on the Axis. The Axis also use a different style design.. It's ball bearing on the drive shaft linkage, so its supposed to be smoother with less backlash. If you have a ton of money to throw around, I'd still check them out in a store, then purchase them online or something.. You might think they are nothing special to your trusty IC's.

The sonic hammer beater has nothing to do with changing the pedal into 2 seperate pedals.

As some people before allready said.

Pearl Eliminator is much better than Iron Cobra pedal for fast double bass play.
I tested an iron Cobra pedal for 2 weeks and then tested a Pearl Eliminator and totally fall in love with it.
Its the greatest pedal i could imagine and i always have the feeling that this pedal is flying like a Ferarri.

I met so many drummers who play iron cobra when i play gigs
and its always like this :
he :Oh you have the Eliminator pedal , may i try it , cause i am palying an iron cobra and heard alot about the eliminator pedals.
me : sure have a try
he : drdrdrdrdrdrdrddrrdrdr
me : big
he : omfg this pedal is a rocket ! i ve never played any pedal that was so fast and comfortable before
me : hehe i know

this happens on a regular base.

When i played the Iron cobra i had the same feeling that some people allready descibed that it was always to heavy to have a comfortable relaxed feeling while playing fast double bass.

My bad, I know what you ment now. I thought you ment you could change them into 2 seperate pedals because of the sonic hammers.

All I know is that the Iron Cobra blows my DW 7000 out of the water. My piece of shit only has one chain and is so loose and weathered...just like a 60 year old prostitute.

Has anyone played the Pearl P122TW? This is what I have, but I am thinking of buying an Irin Cobra or Pearl Eliminators. Problem is, all the music stores in a 50 mile radius don't let you try out drumming equipment prior to buying them. This causes an issue. I guess I am asking how inferior the P122TW is to these other pedals.

In case anyone cares, I had the Cobra for two years, now I've bought Axis pedals. Personally, I can play faster and with less effort on the Axis (both heel-toe and regular), but the Cobra's are not bad pedals by any means. Axis is just different in many ways, and for me that product works best.
Axis pedals are great, but they have let me down on some minor aspects... If you get EKIT triggers for the double pedal, you'll have to dismantle half of the pedal for the right one to fit. I'm still having trouble setting up my triggers as they don't always pick up heel-toe movements. Also, if you don't have Sonic Hammers, you won't be able to adjust beater angle and footboard angle separately, which is somewhat annoying but balanced out by the Variable Drive Lever (but it doesn't really matter, they play faster than Cobra's even with a factory setting).

I'm also selling my Cobras, but that's not really relevant here as I don't ship them abroad.

Oh yes: the Pearl Eliminators seem to be a good challenger for the Cobras, so I've heard. Good pedals for heel-toe also, the guy that I took lessons from played them (an older model I think).
