I have an Iron Cobra. It's OK, but sometimes when I'm playing fast double patterns, the bar that connects to the right pedal falls off. I tighten it up really good but it still comes loose.

well if you get a torque wrench with a half inch drive, and a 3/8ths adapter you can get a socket that fits a drum peg, I use this setup to tighten up my Axis longboards so I know they won't come loose.

yeah I did after at one live performance my kick totally fell apart, I found out later it was because my drum key was totally chewed up (about 5 years of use) and so I then while working on my car had a brain wave, after a bit of searching I found a specialised hardware place that did a socket I neeeded and result

Yeah, it's a bummer when all of the sudden your feet are moving but no sound is coming from the kick. I would expect the pedal to start crapping out after I've played it for several years. But, it's brand new and I expected better for 300 bucks. Or is that cheap? I know they can get quite expensive. But the one I had before wasn't an outrageous price and it was a really good pedal. I normally don't buy Tama hardware because every time I do it's crap, but it was the only pedal that the closest music store had. ( I live out in the sticks and it's a long drive to the music stores that have more of a selection, and I was really jonesin' to play double bass...so I bought it).

Thats happend to me a couple of times with mine. You have to have the other pedal set up perfect for it not to do that.

That realy scares me though. If that happens when im playing a show i would be realy fuckin pissed. Most of the songs i play have lots of double bass so that would suck if it happend.

Im getting a 8 peice double bass kit in a few months and i have an iron cobra double pedal but i want 2 singles for my double bass kit. I was wondering if anyone knows if you can turn the iron cobra double pedal into 2 singles. I was looking at it and it appears you can but i dont know.

Haha. Just after i made that post i was in the derek roddy forum and i saw an nz black metal drummer, so i knew it was you. My user name is DivineEmperor. That forum is pretty cool, derek actually talked to me a few times. I didnt find that thread about how to change the iron cobra dp into 2 singles but whatever. Theres a ton of pedal vs pedal threads though which is pretty cool.

i hate to be a stereotyping whore, but a lot of the insane double bass drummers out there swear on axis.. and i doubt all of them use Axis just cause they are sponsored.. i know derek roddy can hit over 250+ bpm and he said himself he can only use axis.. Axis are to much for me however.. they are hard to find used and new they are 500$.. i can find a used dw 5000 for 200$ or less used and the dw is a very good pedal. the elims which i own are great pedals because of the choice of swapping out cams.. the red, white, purple, blue and black all have different feels and will make the pedal more for agressive playing or slower playing... whatever pedal you buy, id recommend the iron cobra beaters.. you can adjust them to the head which is not a feature on many bass beaters.. I know many many artists who dont use IC's but use the beaters (Spüg, Carter beauford)

try out the axis.. they are very expensive and you have a very good set of pedals already.. id only go for the axis if you play them and they are either way more comfortable, increase ur endurance and or increase ur overall bpm.. ive seen joey jordison play quite fast on his iron cobras so its not like they arent good for speed..

What area are you looking for advice in. Im in the same boat as you. Im trying to decide wether to stay with iron cobras or get axis pedals when i get my new kit. Ive still got a while to decide though.
