yeh, well i can stand the tone of some pedals, but volume, presence and overall tone, i normally end up using an amps distortion... though some amps do not deliver the massive gain.

I dont like pedals, if you want a good sound, connect your guitar to your amp and set it to 11

Nothing beats a good tube amp at too high volumes. Thats all you need.

The new deicide album was recorded with a Mt-2, fuck that is some shitty guitar tone... anyway, id say the best "pedal" would be a digitech gsp2101 ran through the effects loop... yes, it doubles as a preamp too! whatever, fuck off.

I agree, nothing is more satisfying that playing a sound that you like. My advice is don't switch until you decide that your sound isn't cuttin it.

ok not having a mid control knob on the metal master isn't that big a deal i seriously think its a good cut considering the different levels of distortion you can get and besides you have mids on pretty much everything else.... i wont play anything other than the metal master pedal wise

The mt-2 sucks tonaly, but it's not hard to play metal on it.

UPDATE: I bought the GE-7 a few months ago. I tried it with my bigg muff pedal, but I still didn't like it. It sounds fucking hostile with my MT-2 though

I'd have to agree with those who said Digitech Metal Master.

My advice to you is to try out the popular pedals mentioned here. Then smash them to bits! Haha.
Are you yourself happy with your tone?
I started out with a Digitech Metal Master, but soon lusted after something more substancial. It's fine if your a beginner, but later on you'll definitely find yourself wanting much more as you progress.

boss mt-2 very much floats my boat, i love the sound
also, you could try a digitech metal master, they're quite decent.
fucking hell, has anybody seen danelectro's "food pedals"? it's like, chilli dog is distortion, black coffee is metal distortion and so forth.....what an abomination

I actually used the "Black Licorice" supposed to be a death metal pedal of some sort. It had buzzy distortion and a shitty octave feature. Worst birthday present ever.

MT2 is very good for blackmetal (I can really get a convincing tone for stuff like - the good songs from - Immortal).
If you want a cool distortion for death & other stuff, try a Rocktron mAxe... Very wide range of distortions and no noise. Ofcourse it's a preamp but it's almost as cheap as a single pedal. You can find them easily below 100€ secondhand.
