Well I am looking forward to this new section. Needs to start with the very basics for people like me that only know parts of theory so that we can put the pieces together and teach ourselves. I just pactice pactice pactice so when I read into some theory I get it but I'm still dead confused most times about the big picture. Always seemed folks were just making the stuff up. I know there is a method to it all as a whole but I say if it sounds good just play it. I feel is if I'm just missing something though by not knowing more.

I can manage that... slowly 
I figured that out many years ago, but I have to look at it for a second longer then others before I remember what the music is. Most tabs on the other hand I can read and play at the same time if I have heard the song before. |

yea, i cant sight read (playing it and reading it at the same time) but i can read it really easily, when the section gets up ill make a thread about it if noone else does

My wife makes me mad with envy 'cause she can just look at something on sheet music and play it near perfect while reading it. Even without ever hearing the song before! I tried it out on her with some Megadeth sheet music I have and she played most of it perfect on her violin and I know she had never heard the song before 
Problem is for her though is she can't play shit without the sheet music in front of her. She thinks I'm special 'cause I play everything from memory  |

that always baffled me, how these big wig people that graduated from berkley with honors and all this shit HAVE to have to sheet music to play it and then you have these crazy fucks up on stage with half their brain gone from drugs and drunk off their ass playing this 10 min solo prefectly from memory

That's what I'm talking about too. What confuses me even more is that she says just can't feel what to play next  She knows music theory, but she can't teach me because she says I know it already. I told her that's BS and that she is just a lazy musician... and that started a fight. So now I will never again ask her to teach be something because she is just like a CD player imo. Plays things perfect, but a CD play can't teach you anything or play anything for that matter with out the CD, or it my wifes case the sheet music.

I know just what you mean about feeling what comes next, but she really can't and I'm starting to think that most other formal musician are the same way. As if they learn that way of something; like not to get ahead of the music on the sheet?
