Tuning Help here

i like to play some cradle of filth, deicide, cannibal corpse, dying fetus cryptopsy, children of bodom.
I have always to change my tuning to play because i play with the mp3 and i like to be tuned like the band play it(sound better).

What song(any song with a long note) or what trick u use to tune fast your guitar in

E = ?

Eb = ? (for deicide)

D = ? (for Cradle , children of bodom)

C# = dying fetus - grotesque impalement - streak on blood (first note)

B = ? (for cryptopsy)

Bb = ? (for cannibal corpse)

I have another question what is lower or higher

ex: C#, C, Cb

thx

C# is higher than C. There is no Cb due to there being only 12 notes in an octave (A, A#/Bb, B, C, C#/Db, D, D#/Eb, E, F, F#/Gb, G, G#/Ab)

As for what songs have long notes (or long passages of the same note being played), try:

E = Metallica - One. The end bit.

Eb = Deicide - Scars Of The Crucifix. The intro is Eb.

D = Don't know any CoF or CoB.

B = Cryptopsy - Back To The Worms. Jon plays a lot of Open B's in a 16ths fashion in the opening riff and the riff just before the solo.

Bb = CC - Hung and Bled. The second riff centres on crushing Bb power chords played in the open position.

Hope that helps.

He's trying to tune his guitar by matching it to the tunings that bands use on CDs. He should just get a chromatic tuner: it's much easier, not to say quicker.

its alot easier, but it would be annoying to have to keep changing the tuning, so hed have to get more than one guitar, and just make it work like that.

Yes it does. And changing tunings from E to lower is a bitch if you have .010 gauge strings because it sounds and plays like ass, and changing lower tunings to higher tunings with bigger gauge strings will seriously fuck up your neck, not to mention your fingers.

a tuner that lets you tune your guitar to any note, you just pluck the string and adjust, to what you want. They are the best thing you could get, and cost about $30US (well, mine did)

I would just stay in E standard. I stay that way when I play most of my stuff even if it is dropped D. It sounds a little off but still who gives a shit unless you are playing live or around people that know the song? I'm sure retuning a lot can not be good for the strings or the bridge and it just a waste of time. C standard is another option...
