Euronymous used an Ibanez Tube Screamer and another stompbox with an old Marshall amp on very low volume to create the tone on that album.

Black Dahlia Murde's tone, and Opeth's. despite my love of Suffocation and especially the Effigy of the Forgotten album, i have to disagree with that being a good tone. im not big on how Terrance sounds on there

its heavy and so is decrepit births. I just wish "blasting death metal" bands would focus more on balancing the mix than making the drummer the loudest thing in the mix.

I don't think that album is very clear guitar-wise and, in my opinion, the tone could be a lot heavier.
