His comments should go unpunished for the simple reason that he is not expressing an opinion but a patently obvious fact. Besides, who made you judge, jury and executioner you trumped up little fart-knocker? Godsmack completely ripped off AIC. Let's look at the evidence:

1. They named their band after one of AIC's songs
2. Their singer is trying his damndest to sound exactly like Layne Staley
3. Their guitarist is trying his damndest to sound exactly like Jerry Cantrell
4. Their bassist is trying his damndest to sound exactly like Mike Inez
5. Their drummer is trying his damndest to sound exactly like Sean Kinney

So basically, Godsmack are AIC... just without the hooks, riffs, songs, personal lyrics, inventiveness, good guitar playing, skill, attitude and soul. Layne Staley must be turning in his grave.

Well, you certainly showed me! I'll never again bother to point out when somebody robs somebody else musically, because if I do, you might show up to put me in my measly place!

First off, I wasn't exactly "shut up" in that Pantera thread. I stopped that debate because NOBODY WAS SAYING ANYTHING NEW. Do you know what that means? That means if the debate had gone one, it would have essentially been a bunch of people lobbing back and forth points that they had already stated 17 times. What the hell's the point?

You are acting like a puerile jackass, and I'm glad to see John Mansley pretty much point out everything for me, because I'm not going to bother reiterating that myself. Facts are facts.

I should also point out, you might want to learn how to spell, punctuate, and use proper grammar before you go on a childish rant and call somebody else a "dumbass". You seem to personify the word. You also say "AGAIN" as if I had said that before. I posted my response to you long before I explained what happened with Phil Anselmo. You also pointed out your previous response that I "need to have an open mind", when in fact you are the one who is stubbornly sticking to your little misperceptions, which would be bad enough even if it weren't for the fact that you are doing so in such a belligerent fashion.

Well, it's certainly nice that you think that if you are behaving like a jackass, you ought to be treated like one, because you just have been.

Can we also point out that Telly or whatever his name is from Godsmack sucks? He's not just trying to sound like Layne Stanley, he's doing a bad job of it.

Also: I'm as big a Pantera fan as anybody, except the dumbasses who can only discern the difference between 'opinion' and 'fact' when their own's being attacked, but even I'll admit the Phil thing. It doesn't detract from the band. It wouldn't detract from Godsmack either, if they did anything good with their impressions.

Thank you very much. It's just good to hear a Pantera fan actually admit that about Phil. I'm no Pantera hater, goddamn it, I own 5 of their fucking albums. Unlike most people, I liked Pantera in spite of Phil, not because of him. I don't like Godsmack in spite of their ripoff of AIC, because not only is it far more blatant, but the whole band is doing it, AND they are doing a terrible job. If I ever hear a Godsmack song that has half of the emotion of AIC's worst song, then maybe I'd shut up about it. Let's face it, without the emotion, AIC would have sucked, just like Godsmack do now.

I'll admit that phil sounds like that guy, I'll even go as far as saying phil ripped him off. But I still don't see a problem with that. He's still a great singer and growler.

I like pantera because of pantera. To qoute the motherfuckers "yesterday don't mean shit".

Now to the current topic:
Just because you don't like a band doesn't mean they suck. Without the emotion, AIC would still have cool riffs (they may not be technical, or even hard to play, but they're catchy).
Godsmack has a few of their own. Yes they are a rip-off of AIC. The guys in AIC don't seem to have a problem with it.

I don't think music can be robbed. It's universal. The only way someone can steal music is to steal an actual song.
