This is why I believe in Chris Poland so much. Listen, the leads are fantastic. True Megadeth.

I like Marty Friedman's leads - he's such a good guitarist and has plenty of ideas up his cavernous sleeve.

I reckon I have to side with Soul on this one, Chris Poland is just so fucking Megadeth it's ridiculous. Friedman's probably technically more competant (wait, make that definitely), but Megadeth's best stuff was the Chris Poland, bleeding nostrils days.
[edit] They just made better music.
Sorry, I forgot to add that little summation.

Destruction's Metal Discharge reminds me of the Dream Evil song 'made of metal.'
"I am so fucking metal
and so is my wife
I am his wife - shut up"
Sodom is really the only incredible thrash band from back in the day that is still releasing great fucking thrash. (and I usually hate thrash)
Rust In Peace is a landmark thrash album. I don't think it could ever be out-done, or even attempted.

It's the difinitive Megadeth, yes, but it's not the best thrash album ever. It has some of the best thrash songs ever, (Holy Wars... The Punishment Due; Tornado of Souls, Hanger 18), but overall, I've heard better.
Overkill, Kreator, Dark Angel, Exodus, and Sodom come to mind.

Thank goodness. I was starting to believe I might be the only one who thinks Chris belongs in Megadeth more then Marty.

Chris has a playing style far superior for Megadeth, but Marty is more skilled and a faster player. Marty is a better player, but not for Megadeth. That's all.

What? Where did you learn that? If it is true then that was 20 years ago and heroin can make poeple do stupid shit anyway. They are both clean now. Did dave steal Chris's guitar or was it the other way around? Either way, the next album should be the best in a long awaited time for Megadeth fans.

get the video "melodic control" by Marty Friedman. He is one of the best guitar players i have ever heard. He is so creative its amazing. He bends odd notes, its impossible to improvise like he does. Nobody else really has his sound, but other than that i have no say on the chris poland vs marty in megadeth issue because im not a big fan of theirs.

Chris pawned Daves guitars for drug money, i learnt this from an interview, Dave used B.C Rich guitars on the first 2 albums apparently he had a one of a kind though forget what it was, then he made the switch to Jackson, which surprises me cause he said Chris has never said sorry and that he could die tomorrow and he would n't give a shit

Marty Friedman is technically superior to Chris Poland on all levels. I'll definitely agree, though, that Peace Sells had more groove than any other Megadeth album, and I listen to that album constantly, which is to say more often than I listen to their other albums, which is also very often.
BTW, hearing that Chris Poland is collaborating with Dave makes me think that Chris never heard the fucking song "Liar" off of So Far, So Good... Too bad, it's a badass fucking song. The way Poland used to be, I'm fucking surprised he's even still alive. His buddy Gar (RIP, who left the band in support of Chris when he was kicked out) wasn't so lucky. Shit like he did usually catches up to you. Good luck to him and Dave.
BTW, I don't really like new Megadeth. I don't think it sucks, I'm just not a big fan of that style of rock. Let's face it, it's not metal anymore.

The infamous Chris Rezendez. About 90% of the songs I've learned is from your tabs!

I wish someone would do a good job on tabing "Good morning black Friday". I have got most of it right but the leads just kill me. A link to the song was posted my me in this thread. Can anyone here play those leads? It's by far my favorate Megadeth song.

There are some good tabs of "Black Friday" out there, but I can't seem to find a good version of the "Good Mourning" part. I guess it's well enough because I'm never tuned 1/4 step down anyway. BTW, thanks for the compliments, MetalThrashingMad.
I remember a long time ago talking to Mike Kimball about him doing it, but I'd just have to say he's a LITTLE busy now... Hehe... That guy ruled, and he probably still does, but I wouldn't know because I haven't talked to him in like a year.

Ya, he doesn't look like much of a metal head but he sure knows how to play like one.
I just learned that he did the solos on the Lamb of God song, "Purified", and that he will be doing solos on their new album too.
