I did not say I did not like the guitar, I love it, and I may buy it one day. The thing I said was that I would never go on stage with it, when playing with my black metal band, because I do not fit. SG is the HIM guitar over here. Every goth's dream guitar.
The Darkness use Gibson LP, and I don't hate gibson LP because of that. I want a LP.
Dimmu Borgir use Jackson, and I don't hate Jackson because of that. I own a jackson.

jacksons are good for metal. depends. if you want to shred, they're pretty good, but i'd still say a high end rg or jem or something would be better. the edge/edge pro trems are just incredible.

I have an Ibanez RG T42, and a BC Rich NJ series Warlock. they both retail new for about £500, and the pickups are shit on both of them. The Ibanez now has EMG 81s in the bridgea nd neck, and when I can afford it the Warlock will get similar treatment, but possibly an 85 in the neck for a bit of variation.
I used to own a couple of low end Jacksons (Performer and X series), which were solid guitars, but cheap licenced floyd Roses let them down, and the pickups of course sucked. My next axe will be a Jackson tho, the EdgePro II trem on my Ibanez was breaking strings since the day I bought it, although it seems to have settled down of late. My BC Rich turns me on and then off again so quickly sometimes I still can't decide if I like it, but I can say in terms of returning to pitch, the trems on both these axes kick ass.
Jackson tho, gotta be an RR1....

I play a Gibson SG Special. It's pretty good and I play everything from classical to Death Metal on it.

Not a stock RR, they have yet to release a economy RR with 24 frets and a floyd. They only have some shitty performer pos.

Well, it all depends on you. I like a bright, Megadeth kind of tone unless I use my seven string which I when I want fuzz. I own shit guitars and shit amps and they are beauties. The seven string is kind of hard to get used to, but you will benefit a lot from it when you play a six string (bending, etc.). I refuse to buy anymore signature models since they piss me off. Same with guitars with a floyd... god I hate floyds now. I like ebony fretboards, basswood guitars, and strat bodies. You may be different. As for a "metal guitar", I could rock out on a fucking cheap ass Squier Tele and have it sound okay. Pick-ups is what you should be worrying about more. Get something your comfortable with. Then look at the options: fretboard, pickups, tone/volume knobs, where pickup switch is (I hate LP's because of this), etc. It's all about YOUR taste, not Joe Bullshit's taste. That's why Dimebag uses an SS amp. Check out a Charvel Journeyman and the Ibanez Mike Mushowhateverthehellhisnameis signature model (I could deal with this since I don't think it has his name on it somewhere too noticeable.)

thats what i do, i just replaced the single coil with a mini humbucker, a SD lil' 59. i love my tele, it has an awesome sound, and i love the tele body style, i just wish it had 24 frets.

hmm that's strange. the strings were breaking on the bridge side? did you tighten the clamps too much? i have a 370dx with the edge pro 2, and i haven't had any string break problems with it. i've always had trem guitars, first one was an ibanez strat copy with a floyd, so maybe i'm just good at not tightening it too much. i've heard of lots of people messing it up that way.
my 570 with the edge trem is awesome, though. maybe it's just me, but i don't have problems with string breaks on that either. i have a light touch, maybe you smash your fists into your strings or something. but it's worked great for me. it's the best floyd you can get, at least as good as an OFR. better than the edge pro imo.. they started using non-locking studs just like they use in the ep2. anything that isn't locking will compromise the stability.
the 1570's edge pro is pretty good, though. they came up with some new stuff and they seem to be quite stable. i'd say the edge and edge pro are just about the same.

Maybe your bridge is different then. I dont know.
Maybe your just putting the strings on so the ball end is at the headstock like that.
Once again, I dont know.
