ive looked at the washburn series, they look awesome but do they play well? or would i have to change the pickups and shit like that. I think i've fallen in love with some of the ESP pickups. I plugged one of those into my friends amp and played his ESP for a full hour. It made me think i could pull off a metallica solo yea right. Maybe when i get the pick speed of a humming birds wings.

If you can, play every guitar you like the looks of. As you know you can always change the pickups and hardware. Then if you can, plug it into the model amp you already have or every amp your interested in. You'll know what's the best Metal sound for you. Feels just like falling in lust with that tight little tattooed, dressed in leather groupie thats been stalking your ass, cuz you got the tone!!!!!!

Hey brow, If you ever need help with replacing anything then let me know. You live close enough that it wouldn't be a problem for me and no charge. I just love guitar work and I am forever modifing my guitars. I have even refret, leveled, and polished the frets on my 7 string ( not to mention my badass fiber optic job on the side dots ). Guitar electronics are the easiest for me, though. Let me know if I can help you out with anything in the future, but no, I won't do that fiber optic thing ever again. That was a real pain in the ass for me to complete.

You want a sweet guitar that can eb used for anything? Get a peavey wolfgang. I know this may seem biased seeing as I am a Van halen fan but the thing is like a les paul on steroids. The tremolo cant bend up but not too many songs do bend up with the bar. It has the d-tuna. great for dropped d crap. The neck is just liek butter. Nothing beats the neck. Go try one out and you will not be disappointed. For the best sound I would go with the american made deluxe model.

You can always put active EMGs (the pickups installed in ESPs, unless it's an LTD, then it's either EMG-HZs which are passive or ESP pickups, which are the lowest level pickup they sell and they are also passive) into whatever guitar you get. I put EMGs in my BC Rich, sounds much better.

most of the sound of any guitar comes from the pickups. of course the woods (body, neck and fretboard) all have an influence on the brightness or darkness of the tone, the pickups have by far the greatest impact.
active emgs sound the same on all guitars for the most part, and they're a standard for good metal sounds. good passive pickups will sound different on any guitar.. they let the wood sound through a bit more. dimarzio makes great pickups for metal.. i've got a tone zone and air norton on the way for my RG.. that's a very killer combo.

That's true to a point. Sustain is totally affected by the wood and construction. A Les Paul is still gonna have twice the sustain of a strat now matter how you look at it. Also, Zakk Wylde swears by his Mahogany bodies and necks and ebony fretboards (though his new camo model has a maple neck and fretboard) and he uses EMGs. The wood and construction of the guitar are what affects how the string vibrates while the pickups hone in on the sound produced by the strings (well actually the way the vibrating string affects the magnetic field around the pickups). A 100% maple guitar with EMGs is still gonna sound a lot different that a 100% mahogany guitar with the same pickups.

people should stop making giant generlizations and denouncing certain brands as shit because what you play in a music shop is not nessecarily the greatist guitar. I use to get pissed of because bc rich's looked so cool but sounded and felt like shit until i looked into it a little and found that only their custom's had dimarzio pickups and neck-thrus, same with jacksons; only the usa select series and customs have desent pickups.

My opinion on all this is that it really doesn't matter what brand the guitar is, what it is made out of, if its neck-thru or bolt on, as long as you can make a good sound out of it and you like how it plays, then its all good. Of course on guitars that are made out of shitty materials and has a bolt on neck will be harder to sound good but if you like the guitar then it really doesn't matter. I don't know if I'm making any sence.

Get an ESP LTD F-400 with EMG active pickups, basically any ESP will do Ibanez RGs are pretty sweet too. I prefer a guitar without a floyd rose but that up to the player.

Haven't got it yet. Maybe later this week or next, but as soon as I get it I'm putting a set of black Dunlop flush straplocks on it.

Nope! They finished it on friday the 20th. Its only been 4 days since then. I wished they could have teleported it to me, but I have to wait, and it seems like a long damn wait now. First 3 months wasn't bad, but as soon as it was done I couldn't stand to wait any longer. I want it now! Now now now!

esps are obviously good for metal.. active pickups are quite good. dimarzio makes great passive pups though, and i need passives to keep the use of my h/s/h configuration.. can't blend the passive middle single with an active circuit you might have that problem too if you want h/s/h pups.

umm... EMG makes active singlecoils you know...

I have an Ibanez GRX20L and it works really nicely. Stays in tune forever pretty much. Decent pickups. Fast neck. And pure black (well except for the bridge and machine heads). around 200 bucks.
