Rudolf Shenker only did rhythm in the scorpions early years. Listen to some of the old stuff on the album "fly to the rainbow" by the scorpions. The lead guitarist then was Uli Jon Roth who was far more talented than Rudolf. I reccomend listening to "Sails of Charon" , "Fly to the Rainbow", and "Speedy's Coming" which are all early scorpion songs. Uli Jon Roth was known as the first shredder (listen to the part near the start of Sails of Charon)

There are far better technical guitarists now, yes. But you have to look at it from then. He was probably the most innovated guitarist to have ever lived. He made licks, sounds, effects, ect that no one had ever even imagined. He was the first to use full blown distortion and his technicallity was unseen.

It dosen't matter how much you hate his music, you cannot deny his profound change he made in the guitar world, and music all together.

He used to be my hugest inspiration to me about a year and a half ago, before i knew what shred was. Then i met this 16 year old from a small town i go to every summer. He showed me a video of Michael Angelo and played me some stuff and i was sorta like . After that i was like "screw hendrix". He may have made the difference like Darko said but me...i dont really care who made the difference and changed stuff. I don't care much for Kurt Cobain or those "innovators" because they only started something in my opinion. The people nowadays perfected the genre to what it is today, which in my opinion is 10 times better (im talking about shred, death metal, some rock). I think that sure these people created something, but someone would have thought it up anyways, maybe just a bit later.

I think thats a pretty apathetic approach Shred. With out that person who started it, then you wouldn't have it and where might you be if you didn't have it? That seems disrespectful to me.

Shenker did the best Scorpions songs in the world, man. Hurricane, Still Loving You, and so forth.

It's all very well saying that "someone would have come up with it eventually" but they didn't need to because someone came up with it earlier. Hendrix was an innovator and I don't think that anybody can deny that fact, whether they like his music or not.
