Mine has the option of string through or top load. I tried both and I can't tell the difference because everytime I change strings they obviously sound better than the strings that were on before. I use the top load because often the thickest layer of coiling ends before the nut if I put the strings through the body. The top load bridge gives that extra centimeter needed to make the coiling reach up to the nut. I also think I like top load better because there isn't a sharp angle on the string that might cause it to break.
I'd rather have that flower bass than the BC Rich, since both are only good at looking funny. (I'm kidding, obviously, but I still don't think BC Rich is any good. The one I own sucks, even though it's a different kind)

I say do away with it. You can always stand in its former location if you need to make use of the perspective it gave you, but will benefit from the ability to situate yourself in different loci with ease.
Destroy the box.
