People were mostly in their 20's and 30's when they started theird bands a 10 years or 20 or so ahgo. Peo-le die, all the time. And it's npt just the 80 yeATR OLD\S that die all the time, younger people die too. The older you get, the bigger the chance you die. So, while the metal scene as a whole get's older, the people in the metal scene have a bigger chance to die. It's not that odd. Realy.

Obviously old age will start affecting those bands from the 80's and early 90's I don't doubt that we'll start seeing some of those coffin dodgers buy it in the future.
I would say that the mortallity rate maybe higher for those in the music/metal genre because of poor diet, fatigue from touring, jet lag, drugs and drink, dodgy knob rot from mucky groupies all must put pressure on the body and mind. Maybe it's the tortured genuis syndrome that's resulted in a high proportion of suicide
