as far as I've encountered, I'd say Necrophagist, Nile, and now that I've finally got hear some Cryptopsy, them as well. Their singer sounds pretty wicked too. I'm also gonna note even though the topic is most likely referring to tech DM bands, COB, to me, has alot of technical shit in it.

Defeated Sanity. Because:
- They're hard as hell to play, I mean really hard. String skipping to the max.
- They seamlessly pop weird-arse chords into their faster riffs. See the end of "Liqufying Cerebral Hemispheres" if you want an example
- They've never heard of a 4/4 time signature.

I'd like to hear Severed Saviour with an extra 50 bpm.

So what is the difference precisely between Brutal Death Metal and Technical Death Metal?
I fear I should put on my Flame Retardent suit.

No.
Well, technical death metal isn't always brutal (eg. Theory In Practice) and brutal death metal isn't always technical (eg. Gutrot).

has anyone mentioned Sceptic, Diamanthian and Defacing?
and i was about to say Quo Vadis, but they seem to put speed ahead of technicality.
