the old s.s. crates like that are weird... i used to have a g1600 xl, man it was good in a weird way... like it only had a couple good uses.... but it did them pretty well and got pretty loud.... took effects pretty well, didn't really have an fx loop, it was like a line out and a line in(not instrument in).... but i normally ran fx in the front of the amp...

I got the GLX1200h, and so far its brilliant, it has effects, and awesome distortion for brutal stuff. I always practice with the glx because some riffs only sound good depending upon how ur distortion is.

call me weird, but i actually think alot of crates have a good sound....
my friend has an mx120r (120w s.s. 2x12 combo).... the cleans are pretty nice in that sterile/watery way, and the distortion is pretty usable for alot of high gain stuff with beefy chunk and haronics...
one of clifton's guitarist has a crate gx220t (220w s.s. head with built in tuner) with a carvin 4x12 and a crate 2x15 cab, his guitar is an epi les paul with duncans...
and i'd say his tone is just as good if not better than the other guitarist who has a dual recto, marshall 1960a, and i think a peavey ms412, and a les paul with emg's.
maybe it's just me.... but his shit sounds pretty good.
never been a fan of the gfx series and i'm not to familiar with some of their newer s.s. stuff either.
i have alot of love for the bv's though. they just sound good.

um, i know it had a 130 in it somewhere, but the GX series is a little more current... i think it was a g130ch... like a 130w version of the g1600 xl that i had but with chorus instead of reveb i beleive... because in one of the live preformances i've seen on a friends dvd he had one that looked alot like my g1600 xl... but with a big rack of shit next to it...

I'll DEFINETLY have to try this amp out if it is THE amp used on The Bleeding. They get some fanastic tones on that album.

Im not sure what your talking about. Guitar heavy? Meaning, the guitars are too loud; not being able to hear the bass, drums and vocals well? If thats what you mean I hear the Bass perfectly (which goes fanastically with the guitars), drums I hear fine same with the vocals. I think that album sounds great. Decent production too.
Im not sure what you meant though.

its mainly the drums, all the stringed instruments sound fine... the drums are mixed so quietly though, i mean theyre there, just not enough.

i never said it was horrible, just bad compared to what came out before/when it was out, death's cds in exception to Scream bloody gore had way better production at least until vile, then they were about equal.
