My brother leaves tomorrow. He keeps banging on about Bal Sagoth and Satyricon.

Can't afford it. Also, it seems that there is a leaning towards black metal this year and I'm not the biggest BM fan. There was probably only a handful of bands playing (even before Deicide quit) that I liked so it just wouldn't have been economical for me to go. Oh well, I've still got Slayer to look forward to!

Report of bands i saw:
First day Motorhead, new album is killer, really great. But they were really disappointing. Only played one song from the newest record wich doesn't makes any sence to me, since you want to promote it don't ya?
Anyway, they played everything fast, sloppy and uninspired. The crowd was insane though, so that made them smile a couple of times
Second day Arch Enemy, good solid show but there was a heavy wind so the sound was really crap.
Then Mayhem, cool stage, mic. stands and drumkit had white ornaments and the singer started fucking around with the head of a pig, hahaha.
Halfway Mayhem i wanted to see Satan because the name made me curious. Didn't like it, boring power metal.
Destruction ruled, says it all.
Then i went to see Amon Amarth, didn't know them and it really walsed over me, great music, great vocals, great singer, mighty fucking vikings, they've got themselfs a new fan .
Doro sucked, cheap covers, bleh.
Last day, fucking hot, hardly any wind but a great line-up so it got me standing from 12 to 17 .
First Death Angel, great band really had a good time there. Then Unleashed, bored me so i went to drink. Then Anthrax wich were pretty good (again). Too bad they played only two song from W.C.F.Y.A. (safe home and w.c.f.y.a.), the other songs were great aswell so didn't bothered me that much.
Last of the series was Cannibal Corpes, gave me a pretty harsh neckache . They weren't allowed to play stuff from the first three albums though, fucking cencorlaws in germany. They dedicated You Deserve to Die to the burocrats . I believed they ended with Hammer Smash face after all.
The evening started with Children of Bodom, it was ok, just not my cup of tea, great guitar and keyboard solo's. Have to admit it.
And then the moment everybody waited for, the 2 hour 25th Saxon aniversary show!!!!! Great set with all the hits and one of the organisers on bass at one song. When they played Denim and Leather a guy from Savatage and Schmiel from Destruction jointed the stage, to bad the basses kept falling away.
They brought the Eagle and they recorded a DVD that night.
Earlier the weekend they had a signing session, the first couple of people got a photo and a poster, me included . Got my hat signed aswell.
I also entered the Karaoke stage and did Ted Nugent's Cat Scratch Fever. HAHAHA, earned a nice Jim Beam cap with that .
All by all a great festival with a lot of metal and beer. I'll be there next year fo shizzle!

Haha, good then, Doc?!
My bro texted a couple of times, saying the bands that he saw were all good and that he met the blokes from Bal Sagoth. He was chuffed to bits (my bro, not Byron, haha!) - they probably exchanged their favourite battle manoeuvres!

JBO was fucking weird....
Wel I think Mayhem was the best thing I saw, cool set and good sound for a change I l like children of bodom a bloody lot, I don't really like listening to their cd's anymore but they still rock live. And the best thing was that it was so hot that 5 girls around me took their shirt off and the organization sprayed water over the crowd: Resulting in me having loads of soaking wet girls in bra's rubbing up against me!
After that I waited 2 hours for Satyricon and Darkthrone, Wich played a great show... Too bad only that played only 4 Darkthrone songs, were as on the wacken site was said that they would play 15... But overall, it was awesome again

Wacken was fucking immense i just got back after treaking god knows how many fucking miles to get home, anyways..
My fave bands that played were Darkthrone, Amon amarth, Saxon, Orphanage, Unleashed (cos they played some fuckin death), COB, Mayhem, Arch Enemy and a couple more bands.
My least fave bands which i saw were Motorhead cos they fucking sucked, Bal sagoth sounded bollocks, Anthrax were a bit boring, i've always hated cannibal so there another one which i couldnt be fucked to watch and i thought warlock sucked but the lead guitarist was fucking awesome.
I enjoyed wacken so much, i got extremely pissed everyday and met some really cool people from all over europe and stuff, the only problem for me was the heat and lack of shade. Anyways i ll be back next year cheers

SATYRICON: WACKEN OPEN AIR Report Posted Online
I dont know if someone posted this....
Norwegian black metallers SATYRICON have posted the following message on their official web site:
"Today there is a lot of tired and happy people out there. It's the same for us. We put a lot into preparing this show and the weekend itself was one facing many challenges of practical nature. But, the show went well and we were very proud to see how far this genre has come. How far? 43.000 people they told us!!! INSANE. All there throughout the entire show, loud and proud. Perfectionists as we are, there were things that in the bigger picture is not important that we let get to us. Then we decided to go for a walk to talk to fans and press to see how they felt. It was such a good move because it helped put everything into perspective. People said they felt had witnessed a historical moment and that this would go down in history as a legendary concert. Thank you for reminding us about what is important! And thanks to [DARKTHRONE's] Nocturno Culto for the strength put into the show and Zephyrous for helping create the right vibe in the hours before the show. Last salute goes out to the several hundred who lined up for the signing session with Frost, Nocturno Culto and Satyr."
SATYRICON's set list for Wacken Open Air 2004 was as follows::
01. Walk The Path Of Sorrow
02. The Night Of The Triumphator
03. Angstridden
04. Filthgrinder
05. Fuel For Hatred
06. Forhekset
07. Repined Bastard Nation
08. Hvite Krists Død
--------------------
DARKTHRONE set w/ Nocturno Culto on vocals:
09. Kaatharian Life Code
10. The Hordes Of Nebulah
11. Transilvanian Hunger
12. Under A Funeral Moon
---------------------
Encore:
13. Mother North (w/ Nocturno Culto on guitar)
