Here's my bit - don't pick a name just because it sounds cool. Or at least don't pick it because you want it to sound cool to other people, just make it something cool to you and your bandmates.
Think of where your/your group's head is at... whether you feel fucked up, happy, apathetic. Then try to simplify and summarise that in a single word or short phrase. Don't be some lame cunt who thinks they are cool because they managed to pick some evil-sounding name from a book of the occult or, as mentioned before, some LotR or fantasy dictionary.
If "Happy Clucking Chickens" is your thing... great! If "Emoticon of Cynical Disbelief" is your thing... great! The choice of your name comes down to whether you want to be noticed commercially; noticed in a niche group; have the name be a personal thing; have it be a tribute to your influences or heroes; sound evil or angry because it's the metal stereotype; or a combination of these things. It's up to you.
If you just want something that is stereotypically "metal", then do what I did with "Emoticon of Cynical Disbelief". It's just picking a few words that sound meaningful when put together (despite the fact that it's just a load of shit).
