An 8-string is nothing special.
It's like these 12-string acoustic-guitars.
You have for each string an additional ocatve string.

That's one crazy bass!!!!
There's a bend in the fretboard! It's seems not totally horizontal! I don't know how the strings will ring on this!
Or it's just because of the strangr arrangement of the frets.
BTW the fretboard is much to big.
And again a new Dutch!!!! You can tell what you wnat. Your plan is to conquer the world via metaltabs.com!!!

Who constantly plays open E and it's octave?
Also I find that although Ellefson kicked ass on the first four albums, there isn't as much good stuff after Rust In Peace. Not to say there aren't good bass lines, just not as many, since in lots of songs he keeps doing constant eigth notes or sixteenth or whatever you want to call them, depending on your tempo. I'd would have liked to hear more bass fills like the ones in 'Take no Prisonners' on their more recent albums. I was a bit disappointed with him. What do you think?
And by the way, welcome to the forum, we can always use more Deth fans.
Oh, and sorry for going off topic.

These aren't really metal, more fusion/prog-rock than anything but it's what I have.
Stanley Clarke - School Days - School Days [The reason why we play the bass like we do]
Jonas Hellborg - Personae - Rag B B [7 minute solo of goodness]
Jonas Hellborg - ? - Little Wing [The timeless Hendrix classic on the bass]
Michael Manring - Thonk - Distrubed [It's like Primus ... only harder]
Brand X - Unorthodox Behaviour - Nuclear Meltdown [Possibly the coolest fretless bass riff I have ever heard]
Marcus Miller - M˛ - Power [High energy slap-bass song]
Marcus Miller - ? - Voodoo Chile [The timeless Hendrix classic on the bass]
Ozric Tentacles - Erpland - Erpland [Coolest Rock-Bass line I have heard]
Basically anything by:
Stanley Clarke/Return To Forever
John Patitucci/Elektric Band/Michael Brecker/etc
Victor Wooten/Béla Fleck & The Flecktones
Jaco Pastorius/Pat Metheny/Weather Report/Joni Mitchell/etc
Alain Caron/Uzeb
Michael Manring/something in your CD collection
There are more, just too lazy to think of them/type them out.
edit:
If you are really ambitious, check out Billy Sheehan - The Talas Years - 7718 (3a17). Quite possibly the fastest bass song ever, all tapping of course.
