The circuitry of a guitar is completely passive (aside from active pickups). No source of current is generated in a guitars electronics, it just sends the signal and the amp is what does all the work using the correct voltage and generating the correct wattage.

What is the pickup configuration of your guitar as well as the number of volume and tones knobs? Also what is your switch? 3-way or 5-way?
