I think falsetto is the type of shit you hear in a lot of R & B and pop, like Mariah Carey when she just goes off into her own little brief vocal improv on the last note of a passage, and it's higher pitched than her normal range.

Righteous fucking vocal range and control Jim Gillette's got. At the end when the note flutters up and down, that's vibrato, whereas falsetto is less objective because it can be more improvised with. Get it?
