Yeah, it's Austria. 'Fucking' is a very old word, and I don't think Australian colonists would have wanted to name a town after a curse.
My dad has been to the German town of Wank before. Apparently they had the same sign-theft issue as Fucking have. He also reported that the Wankers were nice people.
