Well, bass players don't have to play chords and usually have easier parts to play then the guitarist.

Then again, their instrument is bigger, has thicker strings, a longer neck and being good at finger picking is something I'll definitely give kudos over using a pick. And bassists who play lead well are probably better than their lead guitar counterparts.

it's all about pros and cons.
