I hear the Seymour Duncan pickup booster pedal works really really great in front of an amp when using not-so-hot pickups even with high gain amps, doesn't alter the tone just gives a gain boost and adds sensitivity to your playing. It's like 65$ I might get one when I sell my EMG's perhaps.
