i keep my pick slightly slanted because if i have to shred at the bottom or top of an arpeggio pattern its much easier to transition. if you really let your hand get into the motion of the sweep and you need to start picking right away it will be tough, so by not slanting my pick that much im prepared to connect the sweeps with licks.
