It depends how you connect them up, if you connect them in series, ie.

<> is a speaker
--<>--<>--<>--<>--
then the resistance will be added, so if each speaker is 4 ohms, it'd total 16, however if they are connected thus:

the resistance is divided, so if each speaker was 16ohm, the total resistance would be 4
