Power chords constist of: the root (E sting), the 5th (A string), and the octave (D string).
I would suggest going to a music store and try out some guitars and amps. See what you like.

If I'm not mistaken cant powerchords also use string 5a nd six. Also, regular chords are rarely used in metal. It all depends on what you play though. |
