Ok, simple question...

When playing a song with the rest of the band (guitars, drums) is bass picking done at the same speed as guitar picking? e.g. if the guitarist is picking ultra-fast for a blast beat, does the bassist pick at that same ultra-fast speed or slightly slower?
I'm a so called "1-man band" and am a drummer in the first place, so I don't know much about basses. Cheers!
