I agree with the PAF Pro suggestion. Its cleans sound great and it performs very well with distortion, sounds nice and smooth on the high notes so it does well with legato.

You're going to have to buy new wire and replace the current wires. Use a soldering iron, and do it one wire at a time so you don't connect anything to the wrong thing.

Quick Connectors

Why don't more companies make quick connectors for their pickups so that pickups can be quickly swapped in and out, like how EMG does it? Wouldn't it be fairly simple to create them?
