The only 5 string basses that i have come across that i like or own are

Ibanez SR5 limited edition '95 prestige... which I have :)

also, I liked Zon, Celinder and Lakland 5 strings. Sadowksy's ain't half bad though but a bit too vintage sounding for me

A really great looking bass guitar !!

I know I keep repeating this everywhere, but looking great is about all it's good for. I didn't know Warlock had a five string model. Must be even more unbalanced than my four string. <emoticon of a bassist losing his grip on the fretboard during a solo, losing his balance, and falling over under the weight of a Warlock>

I once had a great Musicman Stingray 5. Awesome. Now I replaced it with a Lakland 5 string DeLuxe. Even better. Great B-string.

I still like 4 stringers most. Just tune the things down to low B with heavy strings. Say 105, 85, 65, 50. Great rattle and boom.

I'm disgusted. I find picking somewhat more difficult when I my E is tuned to D. Three more semitones and I don't think even heavy strings will do the job, the string will be rattling all over the fretboard, hitting the pickups and what not. To do that you'd have to buy strings for a 5-string and not use the G. That's what I think anyway.

Actually I'm planning on buying an Ibanez. It's an SD-GR with five strings and active pick-ups. It's going to cost me 1000$ Cdn (about 750 United States dollars), but that's not bad at all for a 5-string. They had to order in a new one in the guitar store because one of the frets buzzed (it was apparently pushed to far into the fretboard).

If anyone knows anything about this bass please tell me if you like it, it seemed very good when I played. Very good balance, perfectly strait neck, pretty easy to play. The only thing I didn't like was that the neck could be faster, but it's still an improvement from the quickness of the neck on my current bass.

Im not much of a korn fan... infact i despise them, but the Ibanez K5 is quite a nice bass..

I own a tanglewood rebel 5k, its not a bad 5 string, passive pickups, but with a nice low growl tone.. if i was going to get another 5 string it would be either be a Warwick Thumb bass 5, or a Sei Bass 5 string... nice basses

fuck if your gonna spend a bunch of money on a bass just get it custom, u can get any body, neck, head, pickups, finish you want. My nest 5 string is a custom from this guy in my town, he claims to have th best necks in the world and I must agree. If you feel like checking it out go to www.trekerguitars.com it tells you about his necks, his production. He is an amazing luthier.

damn, you have really to spend a bunch of money for such a bass ...

It's not about money. It's about having a grade A bass, and somthing thats mine not one that any fool out there could have. Besides that anyone could afford one it's just a matter of how much effort your willing to put forward in futhering your carrer as a bassist.

a good bass is one thing ... and an amp is the other thing ... if you want a very good bass and a very good amp, you have to spent a lot of money.
It's correct that playing bass is an expensive hobby .

I have an Ibanez GSR205 its good for me as a beginner anyways!
Tried out the Heartbreaker Daisy rock Bass too expensive, very uncomfortable (esp if practisin sittin down), hideous sound and they say its designed for girls...with its light weight and thin neck for nimble fingers...well Im a girl and my fingers are far too long for it, felt i could wrap them round it three fold!! Think the novelty might wear off the big black heart shape anyways.......rant over

I am a big fan of the Fbass Caron 5. The Violin style just really does it for me.
