better for metallica
who do u think is the better bassist Jason newsted or robert trujillo ?
personally i like jason better but what do u guys think |
Cliff Burton.
roberto trulijo is a cockmonkey |
Yeah they both suck, cliff burton was god, and listening to nu-metallica, is like eating fertilizer.
|
If I Played Bass Cliff Would Be My Biggest Influence, Jay Just Got Slapped Around By James, And Rob Was Only Good In S.T.

Trujillo kicks ass
If Trujillo wasn't good he wouldn't be in metallica and jason was just a cry baby....boo hoo. Did you hear his side project echobrain or voivod? they suck compared to the new metallica album....and the new metallica album did suck.Well somewhat,St anger is a good song.Newstead was ungrateful of the shoes he got to fill. But if you have to compare newstead to trujillo you just cant, they're in the same calibur. Its kinda like being a chevy guy or a ford guy, both good trucks just different.Personally I think trujillo has way beter stage presence and far less ego than newstead. What a cry-baby !! Flotsam and jetsam were real cool back in the day!!! He should have stayed and faded.
|
meh, trujillo does good in BLS.
|
yeh Trujillo did kick ass in BLS, He seems really good at playing other peoples music. Bob rock wrote all the bass lines on St. Anger, and Zakk writes all the music for BLS except drums.
|
I don't see why everyone thinks Burton was so good. No offense to him, but whenever someone passes away everyone hails them to be gods at their instrument. I don't think he was THAT good.
I couldn't say if Trujillo is better, because the only new Metallica song I know is St. Anger, which I hated. I do know some Suicidal songs have good bass, but I don't know if those are his. I think Voivod is much better than Metallica. Of course nothing beats the bass on Flotsam's Doomsday for the Deceiver. Very corny but very good stuff. |

You must have never seen the Metallica movie "Cliff'em All", in that his bass solo's are soooooo good. |

I've never even heard of it. I ashamed. I guess that's what I get for not being much of a Metallica fan. They're coming to my city and I'm too cheap to go see them. I will check that movie out, eventually. |
I'd say Jason
Well, I've seen Trujillo play live, and Jason on enough DVDs (pre and post Load era) and from that I'd say they're kinda equal-ish in ability. Trujillo's solo at the Melbourne Big Day Out 04 didn't really impress me - he's adequate, but not great (plus the whole skater thing pisses me off. Heavy metal and shorts don't mix.) Jason had more of a stage presence, and from some of the interviews I've ssen and read, a lot more intellect and passion than most give him credit for. I was sorry to see him leave.
|
saw him on the BLS dvd and he looks like a cockmonkey with BLS too. fuck him.

CLIFF
It's a tough question to answer. I think Jason is better than Trujillo but Cliff Burton is the man who pulled me to play the bass so: Cliff Uber Alles!

Metallica is dead, bury them and move on!

You're an idiot firstly, I would like to point out to you the obvious fact that VOIVOD sure as hell is NOT Jason Newstead's "side project" (!) as you so aptly called them. Voivod has been around since the early 80's, which is just about the same amount of time as Metallica has! The initial sound of this Canadian group is far heavier than anything that Metallica has yet to release! Granted, Voivod has changed styles over the years, as many older bands have, but their initial sound (featured on albums such as the debut War and Pain and the hillariously titled Rrroooaaarrrr!) blows Metallica out of the water in terms of sheer heaviness. This, is of course, including Metallica's impressive, earlier, and overall better material (Cliff Burton-era)! Get with the program before you start bashing something you know NOTHING about! Metallica are now the biggest bunch of crybabies there are in any music form, but in particular metal. The flat-out jewery of this band cannot be topped. They sue their fans in order to buy another house? Another Jag perhaps? Lame! Jason Newstead may not be the best bass player in the history of the band, arguably, that honor goes to Cliff Burton. Yet, by him leaving the band he shows that he is indeed the smartest member of Metallica! Refusing to hang around those vampires shows that Newstead was indeed a good replacement for Burton, if only in mentality. Burton, no doubt would kick the shit out of his bandmates were he still alive - for their aforementioned jewery, no doubt! Metallica is dead, bury them and move on! |

A-FUCKING-MEN! Voivod fucking rules! Mr. Roboto, get back to the fucking new wave band you get your cocksucking namesake from and quit interjecting your idoiotic, malinformed, bull shit into a conversation in which you apparently have very little to no knowledge. (In words you can understand: FUCK OFF CUNT!) Yes, Echobrain sucked, but it wasn't meant to really be metal either. Just because Echobrain sucked doesn't take away from Newstead's ability as a bassist in Metallica. Quit changing the subject dipshit. |
I think Cliff was 10 times better than both of them
|
IMO, Cliff burton was better than jason newsted, and robert trujilio put together, cos lets face it robert is a bit crappy, and newsted used a pick 80 percent of the time. cliff may be dead, but he certainly did show us how good he wus during the time he wus alive, so yeah if cliff didnt die, metallica wud be so much more talented
|
That shit they call metallica is a bunch of garbage. What the hell did they do, record their new album on a cassette deck with a single mic?
I guess thats what happens when you become senile and still *think that you can play metal. |
Peronally I love Rob Trujillo BUT Cliff Burton was a million times better. Rob kicked ass when he played for Ozzy and his stage presence is fucking brilliant. RT inspired me to take up Bass in the first place. Jason Newsted is pretty good but not a patch on either Cliff or Rob. As far as Metallica go, the early stuff was a million times better :D All down to personal preference :D
