.52 a good B string??
I was wondering what everyone uses for String Gauges on their guitars and also what they play.
ME- .52 B String with a pack of Super Slinkey's Below It It sounds shitty sometimes for morbid angel and stuff like that but whatever. -GuitarEnvy (YOUR ENVY) http://www.launchrecords.tk LISTEN TO MY BAND GODDAMMIT |
i use 13-56's...i like em nice and thick....
i like playing stuff like crowbar, sjr and down..... but most of the time i just write and play my own stuff.....which is very crowbar influenced atm... i also love the aussie band Blood Duster.......cause they take the piss outta metal and everything its worth... |
I have a .52 as e string.

Guitar Info.
I am currently using .10's on my Ibanez rg120 series guitar.
I usually use 11's, but I'm saving up money to buy another guitar(preferably BC Rich, and use thicker strings on that one for lower tuned music.. :[ :vampire: |
and i tune to B and drop to A when needed.....
|
I'm using the same gauge as KB CANS. I tune to straight B for Carcass/Fear Factory/Sepultura
|
I use ernie ball skinny top/heavy bottoms for my esp, and power slinkies for my dime
|
i use 10's tuned to D
|
i use 14-68 on my baritone for B tuning
i use 10-52 on my telecaster for e or d tuning and i use either 9-54 or 10-56 on my 7 string for standard 7-string tuning |
I use 10's as well, tuned to E. I'll be the first to admit that drop-Db sounds heavier, though. :P

drop D is just easier to play.... |
I use 11-14-18-36-52-70's on my BC Rich Acrylic Mockingbird tuned to Drop C
|
I use 11-49 (i think) in Eb and 13-52 in C, and I feel that the 52 is a bit loose.

thats a little much just for drop-c... 52's are fine for that...maybe a hair loose, but still good. 52's aren't great for B tuning, but they get the job done...i'd think 56 would be better, but still not the best...mockingbirds' crazy 70's would be awesome for B or A tuning. |
11's tuned to D, used to have 12's it was a little nessecary so i changed :p

i wish i could get those crazy fuckers here.......56's do a pretty good job for B tuning but 70's would just kick ass... |
if your talking B-E-A-D-F#-b, just go with the d'addario baritone set, 14-18-26-38-56-68, they work damn good, i used them on my warlock before i got my baritone, and i still use them on my baritone. but a 70 for is a bit much, though i had at one time, trying to build up my hand strength, 13-56 on my telecaster for standard and 13-58 w/ a added 70 on my 7-string, in standard, though by the i was ready to drop back down to more "regular" gauges, i could pull 1-1/2 and, occasionally, 2 step bends on them. :)
BTW- the strings mockingbird is using are the zakk wylde lo-tune sets, by GHS, im sure you could get them cheap off the net, thats the set i got the 70 for my 7-string, i couldnt find them anywhere else. |
I use 12-54, and i tune to C on my "band" guitar.
My "home" guitar, i use 11-49's and i tune to D. Both are perfect for their tunnings. |
use 10-56's on my 7 string
|
a .70 probably wouldnt even fit in the bridge of my guitar! Les paul studio. a 52 is almost too much for the stock head.
