Marshalls AVT 275..
 

My parents went out for the day so i decided to snoop around and see what they had got me for Christmas, it turns out they've got me a Marshalls AVT 275 amp.
i managed to get about 30 mins play on it and i thought it was great, the only thing was i couldn't seem to get very good metal distortion on it, which is weired because i was told it had great distortion for the bands i like (iron maiden, white zombie, immortal...).
So i just wondered if anyone had any recomended settings to get a heavy metal sound out of this amp.

do you know how to e.q. proper?

what kinda settings did you use?

I have an AVT 50, and the distortion is the best ive ever heard.

Gain: 10
Volume: whatever
Low: 6-7
mid: 3
high: 6-7
Reverb: 3

Try this one.

I also have an AVT50 and these are my settings for playing (All with volume at 2-3 since the tone gets messed up as it's louder);

Metallica ("Master of Puppets" sound)
G:10
B:3
M:5 or 6
T:10

Iron Maiden ("Killers" sound)
G:8
B:3.5
M:10
T:10

Scooped (REMEMBER! VOLUME IS LOW!)

I don't even know what your refering to when you say E.Q to be completly honest, i'm not new to the guitar but with amps and effects etc i have no idea.

The settings i used was something like

The True Dissection, x2xAtreyux2x:beer: But you bothe say you have the AVT 50... is the 275 as good as the AVT 50 for distortion?

Without any bass it would probably suck... always add it to your sound (but generaly no more than your trebble... but its alright if the settings of B and T are the same)

To be completely honest, im not sure about the 275... but its a Marshall. Of course its going to have kick-ass distortion; especially being a higher grade model than the 50, like we have. now try my tone, and tell me how kick ass it is.

Note: if you have 2 distortion channels, like i think you do, use the 1st for your normal tone, and use the same settings on the second one, but scoop the mid to about 8 for solos. that should work real nice.

Thanks for the advice Spikyhairz. True Dissection i'll tell you how kick ass the tone is when i get it for Christmas, or when my mam and dad go out :D... Oh before i get carried away: True Dissection you have Mid High Low in the settings, wheres my amp has treble, mid, bass, is there a difference bettween the two?

Low = Bass
Mid =.... Mid (:rolleyes: )
High = Trebble

kinda speaks for itself... no?

Thought so, i just wasn't a 100% sure.
