My fingers hurt, haha
Ok
so I finally got to drumming; Is it normal my *******¨fingers hurt after 30 mins of playing? Is it something you need to get used to, or is there a special way to hold those simple sticks:D ?? (yeah how do those drummers play staccato/blast beat on a snare that fast with 1 stick) Thx |
im gonna guess you havent played drums for very long...so its something you have to work past. keep playing until your fingers take longer and longer to start hurting. there's no real trick to playing a solid blast beat, just practice for a long time. itll take a couple months before you get an actual decent blast going.

hmm, i never have fingeraches, just blisters after a long time of blasting
|
I played my buddy's drums yesterday, sounded good... :D.
I kept a somewhat steady blast with not so good snaring...but my hands never hurt... |
Hehe cool!
Oh well it was over quick - just adjusted my 'holding-the-sticks' position and it's ok now. Damn, I can hit the snare pretty fast (one stick of course) but how do you get it really really fast? Any tricks to it? And does anyone know the 'trick with tha stick"? You know, spin a stick between ur fingers, giving some show:D Cheerz |
yeah, the stick swirl is just practise. you can throw it up in the air too, catch it and play. its all just practise.
to get a quicker snare response, praaaactise heaps and make sure your wrist are loose, if you try to hit the snare as fast as possible with a lot of tension on your arms, it won't work (plus it'll be out of beat) and ofcourse two sticks go faster then one. |

One thing u should remember is to drink alot of milk. Because everytime you hit the drums heads, the resonance slowly grinds your bones. Kinda sick if u picture in ur head. But it is true, so drink your milk and wear some gloves. |
well drumming never causes my fingers to hurt...its only sometimes when i try out a blast beat on the ride, does my wrist starts to hurt...that too a little bit...
