Underrated bassist
 

Who do you belive is the most underrated, as well as most overrated bassist in music today? Personally, D.D. Verni and Shane Embury

Erm, i dont know many under-rated bassists but if so i would have to say the bassist from R.U.F.I.O which i dont know his name, a great punk bassist tho.

I know just some overrtaed-bassists:
Paul Mc Cartney and Sting!!!
All the people say, that their bass-lines fit perfectly to the song.
I have to admit this.
But why the fuck are these two guys so great bassists? I think it's normal that the bass-line should fit to the song.

Still doesn't come any underrated bassist to my mind.

id have to agree with MetalPoldi.
i dont now any really over-rated bassits... maybe Flea is, but then again he is fucking good....

CONCLUSION: REX IS A BIT UNDERRATED

Yeah he has some good basslines, also in 5 minutes alone.

Rex Brown is using Spector basses... I think...

alotta the bass lines rex plays, dime wrote, but i do give him heeps of credit for being a bass player and being able to play them.

Most Underrated bassist I know: Scott Reeder- Kyuss (...And the Circus Leaves Town).

personally i think geezer butler is underrated i don't hear of him enough as a bass player. and i think he was one of the best.

Rex now plays custom made Spectre 5-Strings

rex i really under rated i agree. he has his own bass made by spector called the "spector rex brown bass",yes original name. comes in 4 and 5 strings. he also uses the euro 4 and 5 neck throughs.

I should check that out. I know Kyuss (it's Queens of the Stone Age now right?) but I don't remember what they sound like. Did this guy leave Kyuss when they changed names?

as far as underated bassist goes I would have to say the Deadsy. He's realy realy good. I would have to say I do get tired of hearing about how great cliff burton is though. He had one like 2:45 solo so what!!!

I must agree that Cliff is over rated.If he's so great, then why is he dead (lol)? Creature (I believe that's his name) from Deadsy is a good bassist, but his bass is really really distorted. Plus on their Tom Sawyer cover, he doesn't play the bass solo, the keyboardist does it all. So the distortion makes him seem better than he really is. As far as underrated bassist goes, Peter Steele yet idolized, is a very underrated bassist. Even though his bass is pretty distorted, I believe he is pretty good.

True but how many people can honestly keep up with geddy? Peter is a great bassist though I doubt he can do it either...
its like saying that any drummer could keep up with the guy from NILE's double bass...

I rarely hear anything about John Myung, and he is amazing. Geezer and Gene Simmons dont get enough credit either

Nocturno Culto's basslines is good. But I have never heard anyone call him good.
