That was cool just to see your awesome close up. :D It reminded me of the gyroscope I had when I was a kid. Any part of it similar?
I had a quiet, but nice New Years. Nothing remarkable on NY Eve, but we had our pork and kraut the next day at my mom's so that was nice. No korv and kuttbullar this year, but I can make it some other time. Right now I'm trying to alleviate pain from tendonitis in my right arm and shoulder. It SUCKS!!!!! Doggone house work gets me every time. |
'Tis why we call it gyroscopic stiffness. If you set anything rotating, the angular momentum gives rise to this weird kind of force. Although it's not really that strange; face to face I usually have no problem explaining it in a couple of minutes to people who've never studied physics beyond elementary school. But it's pretty neat, and imensly useful.

Godamn this board is dead.... :behead:

Well, you're here now so maybe it will liven up a little.

Update on migraines. Saw neuro again today. Got another nerve block done today with a different drug. Also a script for a few diazepam. Will be called back in 4-5 weeks to see him again.
Hope everyone is good :) |
I hope that helps you, bunny.
Geez, it's so dusty around here since Paddy left. Does that mean he was actually about 30 different people and now we're down to 5 real ones? |
Why did Paddy leave?
|
Because of you.
|
But yea, what's up with that? I mean, if it's a don't ask-deal, sure, but hey.
|
It's a mystery.
|
Don't say that. I'm an undergraduate physicist/engineer who've just started his specialization. Mysteries are my cocaine.

We all are.
In other news, a friend of mine started a revolt against Swedish State Television and their plans to tax computers and I-pads today. |
Why are they going to do that? Do they want people to not use them?
|
Well, it's like this. For a long time, the State Television had a monopoly enforced by law on TV broadcasts, and it was financed directly via a licensing fee levied on anyone in possession of "equipment meant for receiving TV broadcasts". Idea being that it shouldn't be dependent on politically controlled tax funding. In practice a bunch of horse shit, but I'll admit it's a sympathetic idea. Anyhows, this gave rise to a whole gamut of stupid problems when the first privately owned channel was starting up. We seriously had members of parliament suggesting a ban on receivers for satellite TV. Now we have new devices and the internet - and the State Television has decided to expand and start broadcasting live via the internet. Thus it follows that they believe themselves entitled to a fee from anyone owning a computer - because we could possibly see their stuff. Some of us are a) godsdamn fucking enraged by this, and b) see a possibility to start a process that will destroy the whole concept of state media in Sweden once and for all.
Wow, that walled up pretty quickly. |
Sounds like a conspiracy to me. ;)
|
Well, yea, only no one's really hiding anything very well. I mean, this is our main campaign photo.
