Where All People Should Be Free
Dabbling in the 1800's again.
"Where All People Should Be Free" I've traipsed thru field and farmer's row Hid myself from shots from foe Dug myself a trench in muck Branchs bent in which to duck Fight for freedom of my own A willing prisoner far from home Caution flows from son to son On this path that was begun (Chorus) We walk, we ride, we wander Sail the shore to gain control Ever diligent in effort To save each moral soul From maples to magnolias Plains, lakes, to the sea Fighting for a common ground Where all people should be free Some escape and stay alive Flee to where they might survive Some will fall and don't recover On the bodies of each other Both sides think they are right Air burns crimson in the night Explosions blast on the high hill Push them back against their will (Chorus) Stormed from each direction Caught in strategic imperfection Here I lie pierced from the blade Led by bayonet to grave Still they walk and ride and wander Sail the shore to gain control Ever diligent in effort To save each moral soul From maples to magnolias Plains, lakes, to the sea I know I've been a part of those Who know all should be free BJH 5/7/2010 |
In it's category I think it does the job, though it isn't my favorite among your styles. However. Then I started tapping a rhythm, just to get a little more feel for it. And then it came. You're gonna love this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Fy3tSim3to Don't even try telling me you don't hear, feel, it from note one. Hey, can I have you e-mail address again? You're gonna regret it for the rest of your life. |
Yup, that's pretty much the feel of the song modernized. And goodness does that ever sound Moody Blues-ish, too.
0o0o, baby! lol Sure. On it's way. |
Damn it, it ain't working. But I'll have better equipment rigged up come summer, so at least I can ask:
Would it be OK with you if I took these lyrics and ran with a bit in the direction of aforementioned song? All due credit, of course. I'm working with a small group of musicians to do a show this summer and this could fit right in. I imagine a fairly straightforward arrangement; we have one each of soprano, alt, tenor and bass, as well as guitar, piano, flute and possibly violin. So, yea: ? |
Sure can. I'd really like to hear at least a melody when you hit one. If it makes a million I want a cut. :)
