Caught up, way up
Well, I felt like a break from physics, and started leafing through old scripts and so stumbled upon this text from last New year's show. Thought what the hell, people had fun there, maybe it can amuse someone more so I translated it. It doesn't work perfectly with the song, but with a bit of cheating and the odd long note wailing it's singable.
The background of the lyrics is the fact that we built the show on what happened in the neighbourhood during 2008, and believe me, with a theme like that in southern Sweden you cannot let the merry little gusts of wind we've been having slip through unnoticed. I'm not telling what song I'm parodising just yet; any Swede would see it at the chorus but I'm curious to see if anyone here can pick it up. ---------------- Did you thought is was over now? That excitement had run out Time to slow right down Oh, what you must realize Where there’s a chance for laugh That’s the peg for our hat Feel the pull from a wild and raging ocean I’m in the middle of a living hurricane! I’m caught up in a storm wind Trapped in it Nothing here can hinder it When it’s blowing through our lands I’m caught up in a storm wind Night and day Here is only it and we And the light the sky has now turned off It is time to get prepared Houses that have gone Will never come back to us Feel that windy drag I scrabble at the door Wonder if I have the time? With great longing leave I my pleasant home Free in a way but still bound, high over my neighbours roof I’m caught up in a storm wind Trapped in it Nothing here can hinder it When it’s blowing through our lands I’m caught up in a storm wind Night and day Here is only it and we And the light the sky has now turned off We go, together Through debris and fallen trees It is, something strange When you recall Forest where there’s a skyline! |
Is it the Swedish version of the Wizard of Oz? It sounds like we're not in Kansas anymore, Toto.
That's not a bad translation really. I don't know if I'd have caught humor in it without you mentioning it, but I can hear it that way now. Thinking of this might ease my mind when we have the harsh winds and I'm worrying about the trees and barn coming down. |
Well since I'm here I might as well post the song being parodised. Man, that key damn nearly killed my vocal chords at the last chorus, but I'm definetly keeping it in the repetoire. The wig still hangs in the wardrobe...

Nothing like pep and disaster to make a tune. :)
