Beaters tearing down rubber pads
 

Alright... I'm using a pair of Yamaha electronic drumpads (triggers more easily than acoustic basses and takes up less space), in combination with Axis longboards.

The beaters on those mf's are hard plastic and after a couple days of playing I already see some wear & tear on the rubber... Little so far, but wtf, I wouldn't be surprised if I had to buy new drumpads every six months, lol.

I don't know if anyone else has had this kind of problem...

Anyway, I'm not sure whether those pads will hold for long, but I have no idea how to fix this without hurting the sound and playability (of both the pedals & pads).

Since its an electric drumpad I would just go ahead and buy beaters with hard felt on them, it wont feel that different and it probably would save the pad

... The reason why I switched my acoustic bass for pads is just that. The acoustic ones are WAY harder to trigger correctly (esp. with guitarcabs close behind the drum). And it saves space. :) I still play acoustic otherwise.

drawn&quartered: yes, I once (before I had the pads) could use the Sonic Hammers but they were waaaaay too light. I'm afraid that, without the same heavy weigth in the beater heads, it won't play as easily. I'll look into it, though. I can always try a pair of beaters if they aren't too expensive.

try putting scotch tape on the beater heads, just a little bit... my beater used to get really really hot and were melting holes in my bass drum head, scotch tape fixed tht... might work for you too.. and it didnt affect my sound at all
