I wont include alot of things because the people on this forum that heard the shit I was writing last year can tell you how bad that sucked...
Started this one earlier, its not near finished. I kind of want it to eventually grow in to some 15 minute prog monster.

Megadeth 2007-07-08 17:23

very cool, this could turn out to be great

sixsicsix 2007-07-08 17:48

BassBehemoth 2007-07-08 22:17

Requiem 2007-07-24 20:27

Hell yeah man.

I would love to here this recorded with real instruments.

bassist_of_light 2007-07-27 23:52

sounds kind of like a mix between nile and late death

alot of it is heavily influenced by nile

Infinity 2007-07-28 04:48

impossible drums + no time signature + disregard for any song structure = not progressive, not wierd, just shit.

sounds like nile and cephalic carnage playing at the same time with john zorn thrown into the mix. this isn't a good thing. the only person on the planet that would want to listen to that is cannibalxampire.

admittedly the riff at 2:19 in autoerotic asphyxiation is cool

the disregard for song structure is what makes it progressive. Technically prog. music really came into its own when the bands focused on not making songs, but making music that could merely be called art, hence one of its original genre titles known as art rock. This is definitely a ways from that, but is still decent stuff considering that it is midi. If it was finished i would consider to be somewhat progressive, and imo a mix between cephalic carnage and nile would be sick. Plus, songs don't technically need a set time signature, look at spiral architect.

they all have time signatures, I can send you the actual tabs if you want them.

these aren't complete works, just enough to help my former band learn the basics of my song ideas so we can work to finish them.

Maybe you should find a adequate drummer if you think these parts are impossible, the insanely fast blast beats you're hearing was my attempt at putting a gravity blast into GP, if you have a better method please inform me.

lol obviously they all have time sigs in gp but what the fuck did you do just go 1/2 9/4 7/6 3/2 156/16 at random intervals? most the riffs sound totally random and boring. the parts come together to form random chaos which sounds like bullshit.

if you and your band can play this shit cleanly and audibly without fucking up every .2 of a second ill buy your cd on the spot but i already know you cant because the harmonies and riffs are just random notes [not random like dep and psyopus because they are actually good. id like to see chris arp play something like this because he probably cant]

im not just talking about the gravity blasts im talking about the near impossible footwork and cymbal work. also if you wanted them to be gravity blasts programme them as gravity blasts for fucks sake.

in closing, what im trying to say, is that this sounds like fucking shit, and it actually sounds like the first shit someone who was just given guitar pro for the first time would randomly make from lack of knowing how t ouse the programme and just seeing how fun it is to watch the numbers go really fast! i know how fun it is but try to not do this.

@bassist - cheers for the pointers captain obvious. and no, it isn't decent stuff condsidering it's midi. look at the old mans shit, far better and it's midi.

sixsicsix 2007-07-28 23:00

well, you seem to be the only one who doesn't like.
I know you're not so self absorbed to be able to say that you're the only one with any decent taste around here, are you?

and you have NO right to tell others what is and isn't music. nobody does.

Infinity 2007-07-29 01:56

i am the only one around here with a decent taste in music which this is not.

People can play that fast.

Infinity 2007-07-29 05:42

i watched the first 10 seconds of this video. are you telling me a bedroom drummer is faster than sandoval or roddy? because these songs have faster beats than what ive heard either do.

I was prejudiced by Inifinity as I read his hilarity before listening. Haha, don't even try arguing the drumming.

johnmansley 2007-07-29 10:32

At least Infinity was trying to be constructive in his own upsidedown Antipodean way. Reading the criticisms of others and then only listening to compositions in order to jump on a bashing bandwagon is not what this forum is about.

If you think a composition is good, say so; if you think it isn't, make sure you can provide constructive reasoning. If you can do neither of these, it's wise to keep your trap shut.

CompelledToLacerate 2007-07-29 23:04

PRetty good stuff. BBut in some parts it sounds like you're just trying to be as technical as possible with little regard to the flow of the music. Definitely not stuff I could play in a million years, of course, but I think if you spent less time on complexity and more on sound and flow, I think your songs would be really kick ass.

Now I know why Infinity was banned. No need to be immature about it. I doubt Simon ever told any of the Idol contestants, "YOU ARE FUCKING TOTAL SHITE!"

Let us worry about what you should and shouldn't do.
