Boiling strings
So i've heard of this before, and my first set of strings are getting rather nasty (i practice in the garage and sweat alot). Thing is im not quite sure what to do, i know heat some water and throw the strings in, but is there any technique to drying them out or any other tips for someone whos never done this before? Any help is greatly appreiciated.

Boil them in gasoline. And be sure to smoke while you do, cleaning strings can get stressful.

On a more serious note... I have heard of people wiping them down with alcohol to clean them. Billy Sheehan uses brute aftershave to clean his strings lol. And I know a few people that use Zippo lighter fluid, but I'm not sure if that works  |

I will try a few of those and tell you how it goes. |
New strings don't cost that much people. Buy some shampoo while your at it.
Hippies  |
Spending about 32+ dollars every month or so is pretty expensive. Especially when you don't have a job. I tend to keep my bass in its case and wash my hands before playing. That should help your stings live a healthy and nutured life.

Good bass strings cost 40-60 euros per set here, which is about 50-75 USD. This is why I change my strings every 3-4 months, if even that often

daaaaaaaaaaamn them are some assrape prices
