I don't understand what it does?

Seems to inform you of every new post made while you're looking at it. I think it would make for some really desperate hours among certain members.

Again, it alerts you of every new post made while you look at it. So if, for example, we had one here and you were looking at it now, the second I posted this, it would show up right before your eyes, with a link to this post, so that you can post-whore with the utmost convenience. Which would be useful, since you don't seem to be up to the rigorous levels of thought required of anonymous internet discourse.
