The official 'Crazy, cool, obscure amplifier' thread.
Why not!
Just post interesting/obscure/cool guitar amps. Kinda like a gearhead's RTT. Anyway, to get the ball rolling. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SY7m...related&search= |
45 tubes!!!?!?!
SHIT |
I wish I could get a better idea of how loud it was though.:(

600 watts...45 tubes....16 12''....DAMN! Not for use at home though:p |
Or for any fuckin auditorium for that matter! I didn't know their was anything louder than the BV-300! :O Well whatever we post know isn't gonna be as interesting as that, but... :p
http://www.dejavu.ca/img/769029.jpg Nifty. 4 five inch speakers, like 30W or so with the extension cab. Because of the construction it has(angled baffle, closed back, and multiple speakers) the projection it has is said to be really good, gets really loud and sounds awesome. I have been gassing for one myself, but I most likely end up getting a: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ampeg-SS-70-Gui...1QQcmdZViewItem Check out this weird vertical retro Ampeg combo. Looks like it's from some 1950's alien invasion sci-fi film: http://cgi.ebay.com/Vintage-AMPEG-J...1QQcmdZViewItem :p |

It does have a certain... "ET phooone hooome" feeling, doesn't it. OK, this is my chance to ask internationally - how many of you have come across the brand George Dennis? (http://www.george-dennis.cz/pages/theblue.htm I own a The Blue 100 combo) The only one ever I've seen in this country I bought and I haven't so far met anyone who has even heard of it. Nice allround thing, a bit like a Vox, though I will never understand what they were hoping for from the "Crunch" channel. |
Anyone ever heard of JJlab amps? Dismember use them
http://www.salmath.se/eng/Shop/stack.jpeg Also Demeter amps. Sorry don't have a pic. I don't know many people that use them eccept Doyle from The Misfits. |
what about blue amps? I tried looking online and found nothing about them.
The dude from Deadsy uses them and even though I'm not down with the music, his distortion is mind crushing |
ok, if you got the money invest in this
http://www.electricamp.com/blueamp.html take a look at the electricamp website, they have some killer amps |
Looks like a toy.
|
years ago i spied a look at a 1000watt (RMS, not peak) all tube guitar amplifier. havent been able to find it since.

its a pimpin toy, trust me hahahha. But the clipping circuit of electricamps sounds like fuzz instead of distortion or overdrive... its a stoner rockers wet dream. http://www.zinky.com/superfly.html ... its a tube modelling amp... made by one of fender's old engineers or something.. crazy... http://zvexamps.com/amp_view.html i WANT... right after i get an orange tiny terror hahahah. ps. this little puppy might be the solution to your recording problem soeru |
Ah yeah I've heard of those Zvex's. 5W tube is still pretty loud. :p I wanted a solution without micing. Still don't know if I'm keeping my Engl and getting a Palmer PDI09 and USB/Firewire interface, or selling it altogether and getting an Engl pre, interface and amp. Such indecision. :(
|
get something with an XLR output... plug it straight into mixing board. My marshall has it... but i havent managed to get anything too heavy out of it yet. Time to get that ts808
|
That was exactly what I was planning to do. :p I was gonna get a Koch loadbox(basically a power soak + DI xlr out with cab simulation and mic sim). But I wouldn't be able to buy a cab then. So now I may either sell my Engl and get something completely new or keep it, buy a Framus 2x12 cab(cause I'm selling my 4x12 regardless) and get a Palmer PDI-09(DI box that works with speaker levels and has cab emulation, sounds incredible for recording).
I'd love to try an Ampeg Lee Jackson head, they have built in attenuators and DI outputs! |

It's an oldschool single channel AD30 |
the custom shop one that they discontinued this year?
|
Quote:
i don't think there is anything custom about it. it's just an older single channel ad30. they only make twin channel ad30's these days. which is nice to have two channels, but the single's are much thicker and better sounding on the overdrive. |
