The big problem I have is trying not to sound too blunt, but it's hard to do. I like being up front with everything because I hate reading (and of course writing) those kind of poetic lyrics that some bands write that I can't comprehend. I'm dense when it comes to poetry and all the symbolism and crapola in it.

I haven't played any video games for about a month now.

I hear that i feel exactly the same way. I think the standard bands i listen to find a happy medium inbetween those, i think i lean (or at least used to trying not to) towards the side of blunt. I dont' write BLUNT lyrics.. but the point of the lyrics to me at least was pretty obvious. I'm trying to use more methods of attempting to get what i'm saying out other than just saying it.

You might as well not worry about being blunt. Actually, a good place to look for what you might want to go for are all those fantasy and Tolkien-inspired lyrics out there; you're basically doing the same thing with a moderately different mythology, so that's not a bad template.

In reference to the wookie songs; my friend just said he wants to cover that one song from clerks. I forget what it is called, but I can only recall one lyric; "CHEWBACCA!"
