Be the local METAL REP for your region! (US)
This is relevant for people who live in, or frequent the metal scenes of:
Boston, Seattle, Chicago, DC, Miami, Denver, Minneapolis, Philly, Atlanta, Portland, Raleigh, or Austin. I'm working for a start-up mobile media company in Boston, and we're looking for people to be metal reps for their region, and to help us beta test the service. Here is the rest of the shpeal: Quote:
Please reply with [Your City] METAL WRITER in the subject line (ie. BOSTON Metal Writer) to locometal@gmail.com Include your resume/bio along with a list of your favorite bands and your favorite metal sources, as well as 2-3 sample text messages about the local Metal scene (1-2 sentences each). Thanks for your help! NOTE: If your place of residence isn't listed above, still send us an email! We plan to expand to other markets and if there's enough interest, we may include some other places in the initial tests... This is especially true for places where craigslist ads were just too expensive, and so were skipped (New York, L.A., SanFran) |
I very much doubt metalheads are the kind of folk who'd subscribe to sms bulletins.
Altough I would've given it a shot, if I lived in the states. |
i subscribe to sms bulletin to earache.
|
I don't subscribe, though I do get random text messages from Earache. Have no idea how I got on their list of numbers though.

Really? Why d'you say that? I figured as long as the content was good enough, and it wasn't too expensive, people would enjoy the opportunity to be more connected to the scene. But that's just me, I guess. :-) Quote:

Really? I couldn't find any links or anything on their website indicating any kind of alert service or such... Maybe they just spam? There is actually one service that seems to be offering interesting metal alerts (for free), but I signed up a month ago and still haven't received a single message... :behead: Keep the thoughts coming though, I'd love to hear more what people think about such a service... |
I think its good. As long as its free. It would make me feel street and DIY and connected to the underground and all that old skool shit.
|
screw SMS. otherwise its pretty cool. you should expand west, obviously a huge metal scene. i'd love to do this, if there was a better way for communication.
