i got a free metronome online to test handspeed

i can do about 240 single stroke 16th notes,<4 hits per click>, its not perfect by no means, my right hand can do them comfortably but my left struggles

250 can only do in short spurts, 4 to 6 clicks worth of rolls, cant even touch it with a double stroke roll

260 barely for 2 clicks

i thought id be doing moeller at these speeds, but actually its more free stroke wrist motion. and i realized that i probably only can blast at 220-225 on average for extented durations without my eyeball falling out

this metronome doesnt do 3/4 time. i wanted to test triplet single rolls

i was wondering what you all were averaging in speed?

i have about a 20bpm discreprency between hands

I have pushed a 280 with my right, but it was quiter than a mouse fart and very sloppy, 260 isn't tooooo bad and 240 is quite comfy

but my left hand is nowhere near my right, seriously I have trouble at 200 with my left! its only really comfy at about 180!!!

My metronome only goes up to 210 so i'm not sure.

But I can single foot blast comfortably at 180 bpm. Comfortably meaning for minutes at a time. I only went up to about 205, which I did for like 10 seconds.

im gonna test feet soon. im scared because im still not consistant with high speeds. im terrible at double kick

man, drilling with 240-250 is like lifting wieghts. i did this twice for about half hour each and got my ass kicked.

my metronome crap out at 240 I think

you just do it as 16ths at a lower tempo:

eg:

instead of 8ths at 260

I do 16ths at 130

That would work but you would lose some acuracy because you wont have too many "beeps" to follow. I'll go down today and see what I can do.

download one from your computer, esily obtainable off of a google search. just have a pad closeby

My friend has one of those headphone metronomes that only goes to 300 bpm. I can go a little faster than it with my right hand on the snare, but my feet go really slow.

for the past 3 days ive been involved in a war of words with jazz drummers in another forum, any ya'll have to deal with jazz musicians? its like isrealis and paletinians taking about thier backyards, the shit becomes evil quick.

do you guys have problems with trying to accent on every forth click just to know you are keeping time?. my hands are struggling between moeller and straight wrist.

i find it easy to accent the 4th beat. Usually start out with the accent on the first kick of each set. Then i usually throw in accents every 8 just to break it up a bit (almost sounds like the "chorus" of your beat i guess...) Helps an amazing amount with your timing because your actually concentrating on the accented beats instead of every single beat.

Yeah, to be honest when I'm just going through single stroke stuff on the pad, I have a hard time NOT putting in accents. It happens naturally for me, and if I try to stop it my timing goes all to fuck and I lose where I am in the bar.

i just got 250 good, too bad thats as high as this free metronome goes. i have to find another.

the one i originally used was only a 30 minute trail, i want to seriously build chops to see how high i can go.

I use the metronome build into Cool Edit Pro, works really good.
Goes way over 300.

I did 250 BPM with my right foot and hand today. Not a blast but individually. I only did it for about 10 seconds though. I'm suprised I got up that high actually, never knew I could. I tested out double bass speed also. I can do about 210 BPM 16ths for at least 30 seconds. Playing along to old school Slayer is helping me out alot!

I had a metronome on some computer drum program that went up to 999 once, that was ridiculous.

Is that humanly possible to hit? lol
