Why is this such a classic? I'm a pretty big BM fan and I picked this up in August and I'm pretty sure it's the 4th worst record I heard. Was it groundbreaking or something? To me it's just slow and boring!

It was quite original when it came out.
I know I'm gonna regret saying this but it's also very grim.

I agree with you it is a terribly grim album but Under A Funeral Moon is grimmer :p

lyrics, yeah he wrote quintessence and one other song too. the music for quintessence showed up on storms nordavind album also..quite odd

To be honest, and i dont know why fucking love this album, its just like the essence of Black metal, but Mystic Circle's "Infernal Satanic Versus" is just well...the best BM album ever...IMO

If you are a "fan" of black metal then you should know why this album is a classic. What a stupid question.
