My new rig that I'm saving for...
Ok, getting my job back next week and I'm going to be saving like a bastard for my new set up..here it goes...
Spector Euro 4 Ampeg SVT2 Pro(All tube my whores) Ampeg 810E Cab I realize this will take a little time to save up for....but in about 6 months or less I will have this...what do you guys think? |
Thats pretty cool, pretty much what i might be getting, but do you really need the 810 cab? if you dont, your just lugging it around, and might be a bitch transporting, but if your playing big ass venues then fairplay.

hahaha, no I don't at all..but basically I want something that will last awhile, and I want to start a melodic death/thrash/jazz soon..so I'm preparing for anything of what may come. I want the 810 because it's a wall of sound. lol...I'm going from a Microbass to this setup...go big or go home. |
I'm thinking a 410 cab and a 115 cab will sound just as great and provide a little more versatility. If your playing a small 50-60 person venue, you don't need an 810.
|
I obviously don't need it, it's definitely more of a want than a need.
|
need? posh!

All tube head = 70 lbs
Ampeg 810 = 165 lbs I would really look into the option mentioned above with the 410 +115 (although the Ampeg 115 never really left me speechless), or 2 410s, or 410 + 210 (most versatile combo IMO). Hell, my Eden 410 is enough for all of the rooms I've played in (granted I'm not filling up arenas, but then I would have roadies and sponsorships for gear). Remember also, that onstage you'll likely be getting PA support so you don't really need a huge rig. Either way, the Ampeg + Spector is a proven combo. Good choice! |
Thanks for the tips, I guess I'll have to see when I get the money, it depends how desperate I am, rather to wait and keep saving..and having a 20watt practise amp makes me VERY IMPATIENT. :D
|
dont really agree with the bass or the head but the cab is good i have that cab and it amazing. the head i would recomend is the Gallian Krueger 2001rb thats wha ti have and its amazing. and as far as a bass i would recomend the Warwick infinaty sn thats the bass im getting that thing is a beauty
|
Hmm interesting suggestion...but they do not sell that brand where I live. :(
|
tell ya what, in the music shop i go to they had an svt4 pro (all tube preamp +beaslty 1200 w power section) plugged into the 8x10...ohh god it was like instant splooge. i played a warwick thumb 6 string throuhg it and i played all my primus material and it was like heaven. that amp was so versitile i loved it!!! right now i have an ampeg b2r and a swr workingman 4x10 (because i have very small income for this stuff) and the svt was so sexy sounding.

SVT = Sex Video Tapes...
I guess MusicStop in Halifax had the dark blue Euro I wanted..for $1199cdn... I'm putting this on hold though, buying a new computer next week or so.(would have been sooner but I'm a gambler..) |
hey guys i dont want to hijack the thread or anything but what are your thoughts on orange bass rigs? ive heard such good things and want to try some out.

Sweet shit man, thats like....the perfect combination :D Spector and Ampeg fucking OWN! especially when used together  |
yeah ive got to get a whole new rig too
|
Im saving for a SWR or Epifani rig, im nearly there, and then im going to see what the tone is like on both of them, its going to be a hard choice..

I've never heard of Epifani....and theres something I don't like about SWR, they are well built and all...but I find they don't have much tonal range....but thats just me, I'm an Ampeg fucker....just like 80% of bass players lol, I guess I just like tubes better. |
I am just starting my bass playing career and plan to buy an Ibanez which seems to be really popular around here. Not sure which model yet, any suggestions for a beginner/noob?
|
Traben.
|
I must admit, Trabens do look rather sleek and sexy.
